We combine decades of real-world experience in the military and law enforcement with a warm, patient approach designed especially for new and cautious shooters. Our Story
My name is Alex, and I am a lifelong Arizonan and proud Yuman. I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed right back home in Yuma, working in aviation. After my time in the Marines, I supported Army units here in Arizona as a contractor, and then spent the next 23 years serving as a Border Patrol Agent in Tucson and Casa Grande.
Over those years, I built friendships with avid shooters and discovered something unexpected: I loved introducing people to shooting in a way that felt calm, respectful, and safe. Co-workers and friends would ask me to help their spouses, girlfriends, and family members who were curious but nervous about firearms. We would meet at the range, walk through the safety rules, and use tools like snap caps to show how easily mistakes can happen—and how easily they can be prevented with good habits.
The more I did this, the more I realized there was a need for a local, relationship-based firearms business that treated safety, patience, and trust as the starting point. On the encouragement of friends, and with my family behind me, Gun Safety 4 AZ was born.
How We Do Things
Gun Safety 4 AZ is intentionally small and 100% home-based for now. We operate person to person, not online, because our priority is getting to know you, understanding your experience level and comfort, and helping you make informed decisions.
We focus on a curated selection of firearms, optics, holsters, purses, cleaning gear, and ammunition that we know, use, and trust—especially for everyday carry and for new shooters. For firearms, we emphasize approachable calibers like .22 LR, .32 ACP, .380 ACP, 9mm, and .38 Special in both pistols and rifles. Our philosophy is simple: what good is a gun if you do not practice with it or find it too cumbersome to carry? Our goal is to help every shooter find that balance between confidence, comfort, and practicality.
As a licensed Chandler, AZ firearms retailer, we also provide transfer services and offer special discounts for public service workers, including law enforcement, military, and first responders. No matter how we are working together—whether you are purchasing a firearm or completing a transfer—safety, professionalism, and clear communication come first.
Our Vision
We are just getting started, and we are honest about that. Right now, we are home-based and focused on serving customers across Maricopa, Pima, Yuma, and Pinal Counties, often connecting at local gun shows and through existing relationships.
Looking ahead, our dream is to open a brick-and-mortar shop here in Arizona that serves as both a training space and a trusted local retail spot for firearms, accessories, and transfers. We see it as a place where new shooters feel welcome, experienced shooters feel respected, and community has room to grow.
As a homeschooling family, we are especially passionate about education. One of our future goals is to offer free firearm safety classes for homeschool kids—teaching them to respect firearms, understand the rules, and make safe choices long before they ever touch a trigger.
Meet the Family Behind Gun Safety 4 AZ
Gun Safety 4 AZ is not just my business—it is our family project. My wife, Melissa, is an Air Force veteran, and together we bring both Marine Corps and Air Force perspectives to what we do. Our kids, Mia (13), Emma, and Joe, are involved in building this from the ground up.
Mia dreamed up the idea behind our family portrait: an AV-8B Harrier Jump Jet and an F-16 Falcon, with three smaller hybrid jets to represent our kids. It is a nod to our family’s military aviation roots and a reminder that everything we are building is for them and with them.
Mia also has her own dream for the future shop: a coffee and pastry cart where customers can grab a cup of coffee, talk gear and training, and feel at home. That welcoming, community-centered vision is at the heart of Gun Safety 4 AZ.
